Today I graduated from the University of Texas! It was such a special day, and I’m so grateful for all the support from my family, friends, and mentors. Hook ’em!

Outstanding Communication Adjunct of the Year
I was selected as the Outstanding Communication Adjunct of the Year at St. Edward’s University. I’m honored the Communication faculty chose me for this award!
Dissertation Defense
I am excited to share that I successfully defended my dissertation! I am so grateful to all my committee members for their great suggestions and insightful comments.
Forthcoming Book Chapter
I have written a book chapter, “Human resources development in a technology-infused workplace” with Dr. Keri Stephens that has been accepted for publication in the Encyclopedia of Information Science and Technology (3rd ed.).
Joining Texas State University
I am excited to share that I have accepted a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position at Texas State University. I am thrilled to be joining their esteemed Department of Communication Studies next fall.
College of Communication Career Development Grant
I received a Career Development Grant from the UT College of Communication’s Career Services. The $500 grant will help me travel to the National Communication Association (NCA) annual convention in Washington, DC. Many thanks to Career Services for your support!
AAC&U Seminar Grant Award
The Bridging Theory to Practice Project, a partner of the Association for American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), awarded my grant proposal for a civic seminar at St. Edward’s University! The grant will fund a day-long seminar for faculty, staff, and students to generate ideas to better integrate international students into St. Edward’s and our surrounding community.
Best Interactive Display Presentation
Waveland Press awarded our presentation the “Best Interactive Display Award” in the Organizational Communication Division of the International Communication Association. Cheers to my co-authors, Jeffrey Treem and Casey Spruill, for such great work!
Communication Teacher Acceptance
My manuscript “Let’s Take a Trip: Exploring the Effect of Listening Styles,” was just accepted for publication in Communication Teacher. I use this activity to teach listening preferences in several of my courses, and I am excited to share it with others.
Papers Accepted to NCA Convention
Two of my papers were accepted for presentation at the National Communication Association Convention in November. One of my submissions, “Making (and breaking) sense of membership: Organizational identification through anticipatory socialization” won a Top Student Paper award in the Applied Division! I wrote these two articles based on my dissertation data thus far, so I look forward to sharing these findings in Washington, D.C.
